Year 1 and 2

The children in Mars Class are exploring the sounds that a variety of percussion instruments make.

They were asked to choose an instrument and explain how to make a sound with it.

They decided this instrument works best if you hit it.

They found that you can scrap or hit this two tone wood block to make a sound.

The sides of the wood block also form a guiro and so makes an excellent sound when you scrap it.

This is a good instrument to shake to make a sound.

They talked about the instruments that they had heard in the Hindu music that they had listened to before. They enjoyed responding to the bell sounds with movement too.
