Information for Parents Healthy Eating |
|
||||
At Lower Farm we are actively involved in
promoting healthy eating, in line with the Governments new guidelines. We regularly involve the school council in
discussions about how to improve the healthy eating options provided in
school. We provide free fruit for all
Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children and encourage all Key Stage 2
children to bring healthy snacks and drinks for playtime. |

All children are encouraged to bring
water bottles to school as research has found that drinking water improves
the brains ability to learn. |
||||
Our dinner staff are actively involved in
continually improving the healthy options available for dinners. New this
year is a salad bar and fresh fruit counter. |

|
We also try to encourage children who bring
sandwiches to school to think about having a healthy variety of food in their
lunch boxes. We do not ‘police’ this in the way that some
schools do, but we do try to encourage healthy eating through discussions in
class lessons. The children learn about a balanced diet and the types of food
to avoid or eat in moderation. |

The whole staff and the governors are
committed to working towards achieving the ‘Healthy Schools Award’ and the evidence
in currently being collected ready for submission as soon as possible. |
