The children were shown a smoke alarm
and taught how to test it. They also heard about all the ways that
the Fire Service help people, not just putting out fires! Then they watched Miss Wells get dressed
up in all the protective clothing that fire fighters have to wear. |

The tank on her back contains compressed
air that can help you breathe when it is smoky. Miss Wells didn’t have to wear the fire
proof hood that they wear under their helmets though, because it is quite hot
and uncomfortable for someone who is not used to it. |
