Saturn Class discussed the question “What makes a good friend?” and they talked about the sentence
start, “A good friend makes me feel…..” They worked in their buddy groups –
groups of mixed year 1 and year 2 children. They work in these groups
regularly when they have discussion work or other practical activities. They came up with lots of good ideas and
then they fed-back their thoughts to the whole class. This web shows what they said when they
were asked to discuss how a good friend makes us feel. |

Their discussions made them really think
about their friendships and the way they behave towards others. It also made them think about how they
like to be treated and question whether they treat others in this way. They all agreed that having good
friends is very important to them. |
