A REPORT ON GAMALAN

By CHARLOTTE-ANNE AND LAURA

We got on the coach, we were all excited and it took us about ten minutes to arrive. When we arrived we walked into a room with chairs in a circle. Then a man told us to take our shoes off. He then told us that the instruments were from Indonesia and he shoed us on a map, he told us to be very careful with the instruments and do not step over them.

We walked into a small room which we thought would be quite big, however there were about 25-35 instruments. They had dragon patterns all over them. There were 2 big gongs, when you hit them it sounded and felt like an earthquake.

The music was so joyful, you would not hear it anywhere else. We had to bow down to the gongs.

We really enjoyed our trip to the gamelan and recommend it to anyone.
